Human rooms by Efterpi Soropos aim to replicate the meditative state. Workshops at the festival span subjects such as caring for someone who is dying, sitting with the dead, death and the natural environment and deep listening. Unlike most festivals, you can't pick 'n' mix your way through this weekend. (Supplied: Efterpi Soropos) In 2007, Soropos set up her first room at McCulloch House, the acute palliative care facility at Melbourne's Monash Medical Centre, as part of her masters research into the effects of the interior environments of hospitals in palliative care units on patients. Efterpi Soropos, a Melbourne visual artist, has created Human Rooms, an immersive audio-visual therapy space for people nearing the end. Soropos began developing Human Rooms in 2007 after studying the impact of palliative care units’ visual environments on patients.
